Facial Hair Transplants

Located in Sarasota, Florida, and serving all of greater Tampa Bay, Hair Transplant Center provides exceptional service and results designed to help our clients to restore their confidence.

Facial hair has made a notable comeback in recent years, with men sporting all styles of beards and mustaches to complement their facial features and show off their personality. However, sometimes when men age – or live with a lot of stress – they can lose their ability to grow facial hair. Just as some men desire to reverse their male pattern baldness, others love the look of a full beard, and The Hair Transplant Center in Sarasota has the solution.

Dr. Kristopher Hamwi is a board-certified physician specializing in hair transplants – no matter where you want to restore full, healthy hair.

What Is a Facial Hair Transplant?

Facial hair transplants provide a method to fill in and fix your beard. The procedure, known as hair grafting, involves transplanting healthy hair follicles from the back of the scalp to the face. Dr. Hamwi’s team recommends the latest revolutionary FUE (follicular unit extraction) hair restoration system for harvesting the follicles utilized in these types of transplants.

A facial hair transplant improves your appearance by filling in any bald or thinning spots on the face, making the beard or mustache appear naturally full.

Hair Transplants for Mustaches

Utilizing the FUE technique, Dr. Hamwi and his team will extract one hair at a time from a donor area and transplant it to the location above the upper lip. These transplants can be used to fill in an existing mustache and make it appear thick and more natural. The technique can also create a mustache for those clients unsuccessful in growing facial hair in that area.

To achieve the best results, all hair restoration procedures – even facial hair transplants – should be performed by an experienced team such as Dr. Hamwi, Clinician Sia Gieger, and Clinician Rhonda Daniels.

Beard Hair Transplants

A follicular unit extraction (FUE) beard transplant involves removing hair follicles from the back of the head and transplanting them onto the face to either wholly create or fill in a beard.

Hair Transplants for Eyebrows

As we grow older, our eyebrows thin and lose hair, subtly giving away our age and changing the look of our features. In addition to age, eyebrows can become sparse due to overplucking or too many years of waxing. Women, in particular, are interested in restoring the fullness of their eyebrows, but a growing number of men are also interested in this procedure. Traditionally, people with thinning eyebrows (or no eyebrows at all) would use makeup to fill their brows, but the result is often unnatural and “drawn on.”

In contrast, an eyebrow transplant moves healthy hair follicles from the scalp to the brow area, allowing the hairs to grow and form full eyebrows once again. Follicular unit extraction (FUE) is the method most often used for this type of procedure.

Benefits of Facial Hair Transplants

Those with male pattern baldness can wear a baseball cap or even shave their head to hide their receding hairline. But it is more challenging, if not impossible, to hide the fact that your facial hair is disappearing – unless you take action.

Follicular unit extraction (FUE) is a kind of hair transplant technique that can help you grow facial hair and create a natural appearance. FUE for facial hair provides several benefits, including the following.

  • State-of-the-art equipment and instruments
  • Precise and selective harvesting capability
  • Accurate placement of healthy follicles
  • Promotion of natural hair growth

To understand more about how facial hair transplants work and the benefits you will enjoy, schedule a consultation at The Hair Restoration & Transplant Center – Sarasota. Dr. Hamwi, assisted by Clinician Gieger and Clinician Daniels, is an experienced hair restoration specialist dedicated to educating his clients about the craft and art of facial hair restoration.

Eligible Candidates

If you desire fuller eyebrows, a thicker beard, or a more natural-looking mustache, schedule a visit to determine your eligibility for a FUE hair transplant. Typically the only requirement is that the back of your head has enough donor hair to provide the needed supply of healthy hairs and follicles.

Personal Consultation in Sarasota & Tampa, Florida

The first step to a successful hair transplant procedure is the initial consultation. We will discuss your hair loss, medical history, and hair restoration goals during this appointment.

Whether in person or by virtual video call, Dr. Hamwi, Clinician Gieger, and Clinician Daniels will examine your current hair situation and evaluate photos of your “goal” for hair restoration. At this stage, you may provide pictures of yourself before the onset of hair loss to provide a visual baseline for the team. After all of the information is considered, Dr. Hamwi can recommend the best way to move forward with your facial hair transplant.

Preparation

Like many things, a successful hair transplant is dependent on careful planning. Before your surgery, you will be provided with an instruction guide to help you prepare, such as necessary hair care and skin moisturizing tips. Throughout the preparation process, we can answer any questions you may have to ensure your face is healthy during surgery.

Procedure

Follicular unit extraction (FUE) is an ideal method for facial hair transplant procedures.

After Dr. Hamwi and his team shave the donor area on the head, they will administer a local anesthetic to prevent pain or discomfort during extraction and implantation. The FUE technique performed by Dr. Hamwi utilizes the most technologically advanced instruments, designed to target healthy hair and collect it with care and precision, avoiding damage to the follicle.

Recovery and Results

A FUE facial hair implant will create tiny holes in the skin where the follicles were removed, which should close up within 48 hours. The primary side effects of this procedure are discomfort, soreness, or swelling at the donor site. These symptoms should only last a day or two, and a cold pack or soothing lotion can alleviate discomfort as the skin heals.

Often, the transplanted hair will begin to fall out after two weeks, but this is to be expected. In approximately three months, the cells will initiate new hair growth, so be patient and give the follicles some time to produce hair in their new location.

FAQs About Facial Hair Transplantation

The cost of a follicular unit extraction (FUE) facial hair transplant will depend on how much hair is required to achieve your goals successfully. Each type of implant (beard, mustache, or eyebrow) will be associated with its own cost structure.
